Last Sunday I stopped by the Schlitz Audubon Nature Center in Bayside
Wisconsin. I have been wanting to explore this Nature Center and never had the time.
The Schlitz Audubon Nature Center is 185 acres located along Lake Michigan just North of Milwaukee not far from Interstate 43. An $8.00 fee for an adult is collected as you enter, they also offer memberships that look very reasonable.
Walking the trails I found that many but not all were paved or had a hard surface which was nice today, since we have had so much rain lately. Speaking of rain, as I was exploring, the rain that had chased me South from the Sheboygan area finally caught up with me. Many of my images are not very good. The heavy downpour meant that I had packed my camera away and using my cell phone was difficult as well.
This is an amazing place just to hike let alone if you are a birder. They offer woodlands, marsh, lake shore and prairie areas to viewing birds.
Each trail has areas to view birds and other wildlife, my favorite was the observation tower that is well worth the climb. Views from the top are above the tree line so that you can see the birds that like the top of the canopy along with a fantastic view of Lake Michigan.
