I don’t claim to be an expert at anything, this personal journal is simply a way for me to share my personal exploration and discoveries, both in hiking, photography and life. Hopefully this also helps inspire others to explore do what they enjoy as well. Although I find the process of photography fascinating, I cannot separate the photographer and his or her story from the image. Knowing how an image is captured and printed or whether a plugin or graded paper was used, leaves me feeling a little empty. I want to know about the person as well, it’s as if they are the mat around the image that finally presents a completed work. Photography is much more than just how to use a camera to capture an image or compose and post process the image, etc. It’s about life, not only the life of the subject but the life of the photographer and those that we interact with. The images you see on this site may be from a digital SLR or from my camera phone.

For every image there is a story that is told

For every image there is a story that is told, sometimes it’s just an emotion we feel when we see an image. I was always told when photographing people, that the camera looks both ways, that the photographers emotions, personality, facial expressions and more are reflected back to the camera from the subject. I believe that this is also the case in nature and landscape photography, even street photography, our emotions, our view of life and how we see the world are also captured in the image we record.

My Social Media

Why I chose Fine Art America.

Having spent many years trying different online sales platforms I decided to proceed with Fine Art America, because it fits with how I want my images handled and makes for an easy and convenient experience for my customers.

Fine Art America is an online marketplace and fulfillment center. They provide me with my own sales site, collect all money, print, mat, frame and ship. My clients can easily choose an image and have it printed in the same format as I created. If you have ever tried to make a print of a digital file or negative you would have found that some images fit well on a 8×12 and have to be cropped substantially to fit a 8×10, with Fine Art America, I can have sizes that fit perfectly like  14 x 9.38 and 16 x 10.63. My client can also choose a perfectly fitted matt or matts along with a frame for a very reasonable price.

They also offer the buyer a 30 day money back guarantee

Our return policy is very simple:

If you’re not happy with a purchase, for any reason, you can return it to us within 30 days of the order date.   As soon as it arrives, we’ll issue a full refund for the entire purchase price. Please note – we do not reimburse the outgoing or return shipping charges unless the return is due to a defect in quality.

If you’ve hesitated to purchase artwork online in the past, why not give us a try?   You have nothing to lose!” (Fine Art America)

I hope that you agree and choose to purchase a print or two.

Clear Skies,

Carl Simmerman.
